Overview: Training Courses

Our training philosophy is embodied by Paulo Freire (1921-1997) who once said,

“Learning is a process where knowledge is presented to us,
then shaped through understanding, discussion and reflection.”

CCCS, Inc.™ created the Cross Cultural Communication Institute (CCCI) in order to meet the needs of interpreters. CCCI offers trainings, workshops, and presentations geared towards students at the Middle School, High School, and College levels. CCCI also offers customized trainings for healthcare professional institutions.

CCCS, Inc.™ has created manuals, educational videos, case studies and programs for different healthcare audiences. Our training tools are unique as they include the perspective of all key players in a healthcare encounter. CCCS, Inc.™ was one of the first companies to use the Story Telling Technique to work with healthcare staff and providers on cultural competency strategies. These educational tools were developed in an effort to promote dialogue and to encourage effective communication. Please take a look at our 3 different DVD series for interpreters who work in medical and mental health settings, and for providers who are faced with the gifts and challenges of working with the LEP population.

As an institute CCCI offers a variety of different trainings and workshops. CCCI provides online class instruction and trainings for interpretation and language development courses. In addition, CCCS, Inc.™/CCCI may travel to offer trainings at a location of your choice. CCCS, Inc.™ provides a tailored needs assessment to small and large institutions accordingly. Some of these trainings include Patient Centered Care, Cross-Cultural Competency, Strategies for Working with a Diverse Population, and Training a Bilingual Workforce through individual or group language classes that focus on effective communication.

In addition, CCCS, Inc.™/CCCI has taken a futuristic approach to building a bilingual workforce by consulting and providing trainings to middle and high schools. At the high school level, CCCI has developed highly acclaimed programs that encourage young ones to view their bilingualism as a tool in the ever changing and evolving marketplace. In order to meet the linguistic needs of an increasingly diverse population, CCCI supplies organizations with the trainings and tools necessary to educate and assess their bilingual workforce.

More recently, CCCI has developed online programs for most of its present onsite trainings, plus in this same format we will soon be offering a variety of workshops for interpreters and healthcare providers. Please check the training calendar to see when upcoming trainings are available, new courses, or on how to prepare for both the Written and Oral Healthcare Interpreter Certification Exam.

CCCS, Inc.™/CCCI is available for a fee to consult on curriculum development and teaching strategies to institutions that are interested in teaching medical interpretation for non-commercial purposes.
