Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, and it is highly recommended that students have interpreting experience and are trained interpreters.

Brief Description

This 8-hour online course is designed to help experienced Interpreters with advanced skills, expand their knowledge in the world of obstetrics. Some of the areas this course will touch upon are the anatomy and physiology of the female reproductive system, prenatal care, labor and delivery, neonatal care, symptoms, tests, as well as, an introduction to the various health professionals who provide Obstetrics care.

This course is divided into five modules, each is followed by either a short quiz, or an interactive exercises, so that you can reinforce and track your own learning. There is a module which provides you with two interpreting and translating practicing activities, which are to be completed independently. There is also final accumulative test of what you have learned.

One of the most important components of this course is its performance-based activities. The course includes 2 hours of exercises & role-play practices. These performance-based activities were designed to help the healthcare interpreter improve their accuracy while using the consecutive mode while practicing the new terminology learned throughout the course
